
SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 6

Requesting Division of Highways name the bridge crossing Twelvepole
Creek, which connects State Route 3 with State Route 5 in
Wayne County, West Virginia, the "James C. and Carol F.
Wheeler Bridge".

Whereas, The state has designated the homeplace of James C.
and Carol F. Wheeler as the future site for a bridge crossing
Twelvepole Creek in Wayne County; and

Whereas, This property has great emotional and sentimental
value to the family of James C. and Carol F. Wheeler; and

Whereas, James C. Wheeler is a lifelong resident of the state,
a widower, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, church member,
Mason and an upstanding and well-known member of his community, and
his wife, Carol F. Wheeler, now deceased, was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and church member who also
lived her entire life on the West Virginia farmland which she
loved; and

Whereas, It is most fitting that the legacy and memory of
these two humble, hard-working West Virginians be perpetuated at
the site of the homeplace where they raised their family and lived
their lives; therefore, be it

Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:

That the Legislature hereby requests the Division of Highways
name the newly constructed bridge crossing Twelvepole Creek in
Wayne County, West Virginia, the "James C. and Carol F. Wheeler
Bridge"; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the Division of Highways cause an
appropriate sign to be placed at either end of this bridge which
designates the bridge as the "James C. and Carol F. Wheeler
Bridge"; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the Clerk of the Senate is hereby
directed to forward a copy of this concurrent resolution to the
Secretary of Transportation, the Commissioner of the Division of
Highways and the family of James C. and Carol F. Wheeler.
