SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 6

(By Senators Redd, Ross, Caldwell, Kessler, Love, McKenzie, Oliverio, Facemyer and Rowe)

__________

[Originating in the Committee on Transportation; reported February 23, 2001.]

__________

Requesting Division of Highways name the bridge crossing Twelvepole Creek, which connects State Route 3 with State Route 5 in Wayne County, West Virginia, the "James C. and Carol F. Wheeler Bridge".

Whereas, The state has designated the homeplace of James C. and Carol F. Wheeler as the future site for a bridge crossing Twelvepole Creek in Wayne County; and
Whereas, This property has great emotional and sentimental value to the family of James C. and Carol F. Wheeler; and
Whereas, James C. Wheeler is a lifelong resident of the state, a widower, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, church member, Mason and an upstanding and well-known member of his community, and his wife, Carol F. Wheeler, now deceased, was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and church member who also lived her entire life on the West Virginia farmland which she loved; and
Whereas, It is most fitting that the legacy and memory of these two humble, hard-working West Virginians be perpetuated at the site of the homeplace where they raised their family and lived their lives; therefore, be it
Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That the Legislature hereby requests the Division of Highways name the newly constructed bridge crossing Twelvepole Creek in Wayne County, West Virginia, the "James C. and Carol F. Wheeler Bridge"; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Division of Highways cause an appropriate sign to be placed at either end of this bridge which designates the bridge as the "James C. and Carol F. Wheeler Bridge"; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Clerk of the Senate is hereby directed to forward a copy of this concurrent resolution to the Secretary of Transportation, the Commissioner of the Division of Highways and the family of James C. and Carol F. Wheeler.
